ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Kathleen J. Tate is the author of the Melvin and Muffin book series. Kathleen has worked in a few fields, but has spent most of her professional life in the field of education. She has been an elementary special education teacher and is currently a professor and program director/university administrator.

 

Dr. Tate has a B.A. in Soviet and East European Studies and M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Texas, where she also acquired lifetime teaching certificates in elementary self-contained (Grades 1-8), theatre arts (Grades 1-8), and special education (PreK-12). She earned a Ph.D. in Elementary Education from Florida State University.

Kathleen is Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Online Learning Research and Practice and is on the Curriculum Advisory Board for the Institute for Humane Education. Professionally, she enjoys conducting research, writing, and updating curriculum. Personally, she likes spending time with her pets, playing tennis, scrapbooking, cycling, hiking, baking, going to art/science/history museums, and eating guacamole.
